    Thank you cards fail

I’m sitting here writing thank you cards to family and friends for coming to our wedding this past March and for the many, many blessings they poured out on my husband and I in celebration of our marriage. And for anyone that’s counting, that would be 5 months after the fact. I believe some etiquette sites say that you have six months to get out your thank you cards before you’re officially a rude, ungrateful worm in the sights of all whom you love and hold dear… And, while I appreciate that generous timeline, I still think that people would value hearing pretty quickly after the fact about all the…

    Always

As I’ve been reading through the Bible lately, I keep running across verse after verse exhorting Christian to do particular things always – not just some of the time, when its easy, or when we can find time to block it into our schedule, but always. Maybe they stand out to me because, if I’m honest, they’re not on my always list. I always wear clothes when I leave the house – no problem, you can count on it to be my continual habit. I will put on the clothes. But am I joyful all the time? Am I praying regularly throughout my day? Would God, family, friends, and coworkers…

Everyday choices and our Big God

As I’ve entered a busier season of my life in the past few weeks, it seems impossible to sit down and find the time to write in a thorough way about the beauty and wonder of God. But I’ve decided that even though I don’t have the ability to write longer posts right now, it is still worth sharing with the little time that I do have. Below is a little snippet about God’s work in my heart, I hope the reading of it lifts your heart and your face: There is great hope and responsibility in the fact that we get to choose how we face the challenges of…

Can I tell you some good news today? Let’s get our eyes up and onto the Savior. Let’s tap into the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Jesus Christ, and be filled with ALL joy and peace in believing. Listen to what He declares over you: 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me,but raise them up at the…

    Fix your thoughts

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. – Philippians 4:8 (NLT) Amen. As I prayed about my wrong thoughts and misplaced trusts and the actual specific things that I’m worried about, this verse bubbled to the surface of my thoughts. A heavenly reminder and a call away from condemnation. A new pathway forward. I can imagine God say, ‘Spend your time thinking on these things – this is the good stuff. This is the type of thing that needs to be consuming…

    Christ is My Anchor

Welcome to my online home, Christ is My Anchor. So, what the heck does “Christ is My Anchor” even mean? Am I nautically obsessed (yes)? Is Christ a lead weight keeping me from moving forward? Though that may be the mental picture you have of God, no, that’s not what I mean when I point to Jesus Christ as the anchor for my life . What I do mean is that Christ is the source of all hope, joy, peace, and love in my life and the one still point in this absolutely insane world we live in. He’s the stability that keeps me from getting tossed and thrown around…
