    Thank you cards fail

I’m sitting here writing thank you cards to family and friends for coming to our wedding this past March and for the many, many blessings they poured out on my husband and I in celebration of our marriage. And for anyone that’s counting, that would be 5 months after the fact. I believe some etiquette sites say that you have six months to get out your thank you cards before you’re officially a rude, ungrateful worm in the sights of all whom you love and hold dear… And, while I appreciate that generous timeline, I still think that people would value hearing pretty quickly after the fact about all the…

    Always

As I’ve been reading through the Bible lately, I keep running across verse after verse exhorting Christian to do particular things always – not just some of the time, when its easy, or when we can find time to block it into our schedule, but always. Maybe they stand out to me because, if I’m honest, they’re not on my always list. I always wear clothes when I leave the house – no problem, you can count on it to be my continual habit. I will put on the clothes. But am I joyful all the time? Am I praying regularly throughout my day? Would God, family, friends, and coworkers…

    In every thing, give thanks

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV) “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” My big word for 2018 is “thankful”. I’m hoping to cultivate a greater atmosphere of gratitude in my life. To awaken with fresh eyes to the many blessings all around me. Why? I guess because I am starting to really believe that the more I respond to God in every circumstance with thanksgiving, the happier, more peaceful, and more positive my whole life will be. If I can have a True-Confessions-of-A-Real-Life-Christian moment with you right now, I have to admit that I used to think on some level that…

To the one that is struggling with hard things…

How amazing it is, that the God we serve uses the things in our life that come against us for our despair, destitution, and destruction to instead revitalize, strengthen, and bless us. He is, to His core, a Redeemer and He is constantly redeeming everything in this life for our good and His glory. His word says:

    Close King

There are many beautiful things about God. Many things worthy to celebrate. But one of the realities about Him that I love so much is His closeness to us. There is no one on earth like God that we can count on, to always, always, always be there with us in the midst of the soaring heights and the lonely valleys of life. He is close. I’m so thankful for that certainty in the midst of an uncertain world. Life, by its very nature, will be full of many unknowns, many things outside of our control, many parts of our journey that we might not have chosen. But God is…

He Wants To Be With Us

There is so much to give God praise for. So much that He has done, that He is doing, and that He will do, that is worthy of our consideration and exaltation. His very nature is glorious and worthy of us glorifying. Over the course of the next couple of days, I want to use this blog as a platform to give God praise. Not just because He deserves every ounce of affection I can give Him, but also because it is good for me (and all of us) to do so. When I stare at the source of goodness itself, when I turn my thoughts to a being that…
