    He Chose You.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.  – Ephesians 1:4 (NIV) He chose you. He chose you before He said ‘Let there be light’. He saw you. He knew you. He knew all the things that you would ever do. He knew that you would need a Savior. And having seen everything that would happen and all that it would require, He pressed play – with unrelenting, unfailing love – on all of creation and the entire history of the world and every future thing to come….He chose you.

    Relationship > Religion

Paul writes to the churches in Galatia. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for…

    Fix your thoughts

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. – Philippians 4:8 (NLT) Amen. As I prayed about my wrong thoughts and misplaced trusts and the actual specific things that I’m worried about, this verse bubbled to the surface of my thoughts. A heavenly reminder and a call away from condemnation. A new pathway forward. I can imagine God say, ‘Spend your time thinking on these things – this is the good stuff. This is the type of thing that needs to be consuming…

    Trust

Faith, or believing in God, is the foundation of any Christian’s walk with the Lord. You can’t be in a relationship with someone you don’t believe in. So, without faith, you’re nowhere. In fact, the bible says that without faith it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). That’s not really rocket science, right? Trust, on the other hand, sometimes appears to have rocket science-like qualities. It can seem impossible to properly do, even at its most basic level. Why is that, that for so many of God’s people, we’ve got that faith part DOWN but our trust in God leaves something to be desired.  I’m all in Lord, I believe! I believe!…

    Be Still.

Noise. Whirling all around us, and, as is so often the case for me, inside of us. Take a moment and step back from what you’re doing and observe the sounds all around you. Right now, I hear coworkers talking and laughing in the distance while the air conditioning system blows air loudly through the office. At my desk, music is playing quietly – low enough that I can’t really even hear what the singer is saying. Mouses Clicking. Typing. Doors opening and closing. Papers shuffling. Phones ringing. The sounds of my weekday life in motion. Most of the time, I can handle that kind of noise, but the noise…

    Scandalous Grace

I can actually remember the moment in my life when I realized that there was more to this “grace thing” than met the eye. For a long time, I looked at it as this little baby-sized concept in the big picture of our walk with God. At one point, I remember it popped up in a sermon when I was in college. The preacher clarified, “mercy is not getting what you do deserve, grace is when we DO get what we DON’T deserve”. OK, check that box off, I’ve got it!  Mercy was forgiveness instead of guilt and punishment, but grace, in my eyes, basically equated to some kind of special…
